Poor Little Otter, You've Really Been Through It

Yesterday, we got a rather unexpected visitor! 🦦

This young female otter was found in a weak, collapsed state by a member of the public before being transferred to Spring Lodge Veterinary Hospital in Witham for care. After a little fluid therapy to make sure she was stable, their team reached out for help and we were more than happy to step in! 🚑

Once in our care, it soon became clear that this poor girl was not in a good way. Skinny, dehydrated and lethargic (not to mention a cloudy cornea in her right eye), she definitely needed help and was soon placed on a course of treatment, eye drops and monitoring 🩺

Luckily, she has made great progress so far, but she still has a LONG way to go until release. With three other otter pups under our care currently, we will do all we can to make sure she can get her second chance in the wild once ready for release ❤
