On Sea Otters' Claws
Via Sea Otter Savvy, which writes:
Have you given pause to sea otter claws? When relaxed, you can see the bright tips of the mother’s claws are retracted, appearing worn and stubby. However these claws extend when engaged during foraging, prey handling, and grooming. Young pup claws are curved like a cat. Once he begins to groom and forage on his own, the soft tips wear off and look well-used like mom’s.
