What a Life, Hm, Otter?

The otter trainer at Elmwood Park Zoo told me she'd had some doubts that the otters would be interested in corn on the cob. After all, they love fish and often turn down vegetables. But, as an experiment, she placed some corn in their daytime habitat anyway. I was there early, when she released the otters from the area where they sleep. Much to our surprise, they found the sections of corn to be delightful play toys, as well as a wonderful breakfast.
