Pup 893 and Surrogate Mother Selka Get in Some Snuggle Time
This is rescued sea otter pup 893 and surrogate mother Selka at Monterey Bay Aquarium. Every so often we post about Monterey Bay Aquarium’s pawsome surrogacy program, which pairs abandoned or orphaned wild sea otter pups with an adult female resident at the aquarium; the little one learns all about ottering from an expert, and hopefully the pup can be successfully reintroduced back to the wild. You can catch this current rescued pup and Selka in the sea otter exhibit on the aquarium’s sea otter cam!
And since we’re here, like a lot of aquariums during this pandemic, Monterey Bay Aquarium needs your help! Even though they’re still closed, their work continues behind the scenes for all their animals. You know how much sea otters eat - and all that seafood gets expensive. If you can, consider a donation or use this form to contact your congressional representatives to advocate for support.
