Sea Otters Puzzle Out an Enrichment Activity

This is a video from Den Blå Planet, an aquarium in Denmark just outside Copenhagen. The dialogue is in Danish but the caption auto-translate to English is quite good (turn on closed captions or subtitles, then select auto-translate in settings and choose a language). The gist of it, though, is that enrichment activities are important for these intelligent animals, and this particular activity prompts them to forage for snacks from a box that’s sunk to the bottom of the tank; in the wild, sea otters find much of their food on the sea floor, so this activity gets the sea otters to imitate their natural wild behavior!
