Help Shedd Aquarium Name Pups 870 and 872!

Remember these two little guys? They were rescued separately off the California coast over the summer and soon found their new home at Shedd Aquarium. They’ve been temporarily going by Pup 870 and Pup 872 but at last the time has come to get them some real names - and Shedd needs your help! They’ve narrowed down the choices to the following names, all inspired by California locations:

• Cooper: for Cupertino, Calif., near San Jose

• Watson: for the town of Watsonville, near Monterey and Port Watsonville, less than an hour’s drive from where Pup 872 was found

• Bennett: for Point Bennett on San Miguel Island, one of the Channel Islands

• Simon: for Simonton Cove on San Miguel Island, one of the Channel Islands

• Obi: short for Obispo, as in San Luis Obispo
