Otters Skate on the Fresh Ice

Otters Skate on the Fresh Ice Via USFWS Mountain-Prairie; the photographer, Tom Koerner, writes:

A family of river otters skates across the first ice at Seedskadee NWR. As the wetlands are being drawn down through the fall, river otters may frequent them more to find concentrations of crayfish. With a cold night, the first ice of the year forces them to skate across the ice rather than swim.
